Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about training with SmartShotInventor — form, drills, ages, and real-world results.
Will the SmartShotInventor training aid make me a better shooter?
SmartShotInventor is built to improve what actually controls your shot — your mechanics. The sensors keep your elbow in, your forearm aligned, and your release consistent by giving you instant light + sound feedback on every rep.
Used consistently with proper drills, that feedback helps you clean up bad habits faster, build better muscle memory, and translate good form into better results on the court.
Will I make every shot?
No training aid can guarantee you’ll make every shot — even the best shooters in the world miss.
What SmartShotInventor does is help you build a repeatable motion:
- Cleaner mechanics
- More consistent release
- Better balance and alignment
Over time, that consistency usually means a higher shooting percentage and fewer “random” good or bad nights.
Does form really matter that much?
Yes. Form is what makes your shot hold up over time — under pressure, when you’re tired, and as defenders get taller and faster. Proper form is sustainable through higher levels of play.
You can make shots with “funky” form, but it’s harder to repeat and harder to fix. Proper mechanics are more efficient, easier to teach, and easier to replicate thousands of times.
SmartShotInventor is designed to simplify that process so you’re not guessing what “good form” feels like — you can feel and hear it on every rep.
Can’t I just practice proper shooting mechanics without a training aid?
You can — but it’s very hard to self-correct every tiny mistake, especially in real time.
Most players need a coach, video, or a mirror to see whether their elbow is drifting or their release is changing. SmartShotInventor gives you that feedback automatically:
- Light + sound when your mechanics are on
- No signal when you drift out of proper alignment
That means more high-quality reps even when you’re training alone.
Can I use the SmartShotInventor training aid at game speed?
SmartShotInventor is designed primarily for form shooting and controlled drills. That’s where you get the best value from the feedback.
You’ll build the muscle memory at slower speeds first, then carry that same form into full-speed game situations without needing the device on your arm.
Some players may experiment at faster speeds, but we don’t recommend it for full game-speed play or scrimmages.
What skill level are the athletes in your videos?
Our videos intentionally feature real athletes who are still developing their form — not just polished pros.
That’s on purpose: we want you to see how SmartShotInventor helps everyday players clean up their mechanics and gain confidence, not just how it looks on someone who already has a perfect shot.
What is the best way to train with SmartShotInventor?
The best routine focuses on high-quality form reps first, makes and misses second.
- Start with the "No Hoop Hack”.
- Use our shooting drills consistently.
- Once the form feels natural start form shooting close to the rim.
When you remove the aid, your new muscle memory will carry over to deeper shots and faster game situations.
The SmartShotInventor aid feels big on my forearm — how can I make it fit better?
The armband is sized for most players around age 10 and up. If it feels loose on a smaller arm:
- Wear a sweatband underneath to bulk up the forearm slightly.
- Make sure the strap is pulled snug but still comfortable.
Many players prefer the feel of a sweatband under the aid even when the fit is already secure.
Can I train with the SmartShotInventor aid off the basketball court?
Yes. In fact, that’s one of the easiest ways to build extra muscle memory.
You can wear the aid and practice motion reps:
- While watching TV
- In the driveway or hallway
- Walking to the gym or before practices
The more quality reps you get (with correct feedback), the faster your form locks in.
How fast will I see results?
Every player is different, but building new muscle memory usually takes consistent work over several weeks.
With focused training, many athletes start to feel smoother mechanics within a few sessions and notice more consistent results over the first 30 days.
The key is repetition: short, daily sessions are far better than an occasional long workout.
Is my shooting arm supposed to feel strained when I’m using it?
A mild “new muscle” feeling is normal at first, especially if the aid is correcting habits you’ve had for a long time.
That means your body is adjusting to a more efficient position. With regular use, that feeling should fade as the new form becomes natural.
If anything feels painful or you’re unsure about your setup, re-watch the instructional video and double-check the written instructions to make sure the aid is positioned correctly.
What if I have a high release point?
SmartShotInventor is designed to work with a wide range of release points — from lower, guard-style releases to higher, forward-style releases.
The goal is not to force everyone into the exact same release height, but to keep your elbow aligned and your follow-through consistent within your natural motion.
Does the SmartShotInventor training aid need to be paired with other devices?
No. SmartShotInventor is a stand-alone, pick-up-and-play training aid.
There’s no app to connect, no Bluetooth to worry about, and no battery-draining pairing process. Just strap it on, turn it on, and start getting feedback.
Can advanced basketball players use the SmartShotInventor training aid?
Absolutely. Great shooters at every level still work on form shooting close to the rim and motion-correct their mechanics without the ball.
SmartShotInventor gives advanced players a way to:
- Tighten up mechanics during tune-up periods
- Check for small bad habits that creep in over a long season
- Re-center their form after injury, growth spurts, or time off
